HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS
Goals give us a purpose and purpose is what makes life worthwhile, assuming you are willing to give purpose the same definition as “will”. To quote Nietzsche “he who can live with any why can live with any how” because the alternative is drifting into hopelessness and extreme end nihilism and well let’s not even talk about where that can lead to coz otherwise you will find yourself pondering how right Albert Camus was when he said in the myth of Sisyphus, the only philosophical question is whether life is worth living
Ok let’s just go back to where we started, How to achieve your goals. So why aren’t you achieving your goals whatever this goals might be
# 1 GOAL ITSELF
One of the reasons which could also be the main reason is YOU DID NOT SET THE CORRECTLY. What happens if you set a goal is
- You are aware of what you are to aim at
- You are aware of when you will fail…because that is what happens if you do not hit that goal
So what most people do is set some vague goal like, I want to be happy or have a nice job or a beautiful wife or whatever. While all these goals seem ok the question is how will you know if you have achieved them?
How do you measure happiness, how do you know that this is a good job or that you have a beautiful wife? There is a reason why as simple as ask and you shall receive sounds…it doesn’t just automatically happen coz it depends on what you are asking.
Make you goal specific and work towards incremental changes as opposed to big changes at ones. Rather than I want a good job, you should be defining what good is. Is good 15% increase in salary is it 50% if so the work towards that. For instance My goal is to reach two thousand subs in MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL in the next 5 months given my niche a goal which by the way you can make true by subscribing. My goal is not to have a big YouTube channel because that is a relative term so what is your goal? Articulate it properly.
#2 NATURE OF THE GOAL
The very book that said ask and you shall receive also gave one of the reason why people don’t get what they ask for, is because they ask for selfish reasons. My point is, what is your goal all about? Remember if you will need people so as to achieve the goal then its better be a goal that aligns with what these people may also need
#3 REQUIRED RESOURCES
Once you have the goal now you need to know what you need in order to achieve it. Be they physical resources or skills. Sometime this means learning a new trade so if it takes learning them you have to put in the work. There are a lot of online resources that can help you learn assuming you want to use time as an excuse.
IN CONCLUSION
Figure out what you want, articulate it properly and know what you need so as to achieve it. Do not make the mistake of comparing yourself to others. If you are going to compare yourself to anyone then it better be you…yesterday ok, so compare yourself to who you were yesterday and do the necessary adjustments today so that your tomorrow is even greater.
